Birthday Girl

Our sweet little princess turned 1 on Sunday. Wow, where did the time go? We feel so blessed to have this sweet girl in our family. She makes us smile constantly. And of course, we couldn't let the day pass without celebrating with friends and a party!

On Saturday afternoon, we had a bunch of friends over to help us celebrate Chloe's special day. It's a tradition in our family to let the birthday child go to town on their own little cake or cupcake, and Chloe was no exception. The minute I pulled the candle out of that cupcake, she dove right in. The girl loves her chocolate!
It's safe to say that Chloe got very spoiled! Not only did Chloe's Nana fly clear across the country to be here for her birthday, but she also brought lots of presents! Along with the clothes, toys, and books from her other grandparents in the mail and friends at her party. Thanks everyone for spoiling my baby rotten!

I got super excited about Chloe's birthday party and went a little crazy. The theme for the party was The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I made circle fold out invitations that looked like the caterpillar from the book. They said, "We can hardly believe a year has passed. Our little caterpillar has grown so fast. Come join us for some food and fun. Little Chloe Nay is turning 1!" They turned out really cute, but of course I handed them all out before taking a picture. At the party, all of the kids that wanted to made their own butterfly party hat. Chloe wore hers for about 30 seconds before pulling it off and ripping it.

We also played pin the party hat on the caterpillar. Thank you Avery Dennison for the paper.

Instead of a cake, I made green cupcakes and set them out to look like a caterpillar's body.

What's a birthday without a banner? Like I said, I got excited and went a little nuts! For the food, we had apples, grapes, cheese, crackers, pineapple, yogurt, and mac n cheese. All of Chloe's favorites. Next to the food I made little tags that said "On Monday she ate through one apple, but she was still hungry" etc. I was really happy with how the party and decorations turned out. We had about 15 adults and 13 little kids crammed into our little apartment for an hour and a half. It was pure madness, but we loved it. Chloe loved watching the other kids and eating all of the yummy food. She was such a happy girl through the whole party.

I still can't believe that my baby is 1. She even looks bigger and has been acting older lately. We love this little sweetheart so much and can't wait to see what kind of adventures and discoveries will happen this next year.

Wow, you really did go to town. I'm sure someday she will look back and tell you how awesome you are. Looks like everyone had a great time. Happy Birthday to your cute girlie!

I really enjoy it when you post on your blog. You do a great job! Is your "first year of Chloe" video here, the one I saw on FaceBook? That's worth seeing over and over again. Thanks.

That sounds like such a fun birthday party! I've never read that book to Jill or Daniel, but I think I need to find it at the library now. I love all the decorations!
